Half Step Creek plays all kinds of music from Traditional to Americana with a touch of Country and Bluegrass. Harrol and Deborah are multi-instrumentalists with a variety of playing styles producing the unique sound of Half Step Creek.
Deborah Sherrill is a resident of Alleghany County. She plays guitar and banjo and sings lead and harmony with the band. She taught guitar privately and in the high schools in Wilmington NC before moving to Sparta. She works with Alleghany JAM as chair of their board and long time volunteer and supporter.
Harrol Blevins is a native of Alleghany and a graduate of Sparta High School. He plays guitar and mandolin and sings lead and harmony with the band. He teaches guitar and singing with the Alleghany JAM program. Harrol builds guitars and does instrument repairs and volunteers his time to maintain the JAM instrument inventory.
