Hospice of Alleghany

Volunteers provide comfort and support for patients by reading, listening, taking walks, writing letters, bringing in music, supervising visits with pets, they also allow family caregivers the opportunity to take care of necessary errands and get some time away from the house. Family members also appreciate a visit from a compassionate friend who understands what they are going trough.

Volunteers deliver meals to homes in the county.

Volunteers man the bookstore; participate in the summer reading program, VITA - Volunteer Income Tax Assistant (seasonal) and various other duties..

Locally, volunteers can serve as club leaders, be trained in curricula to teach in schools and at workshops, help with summer fun programming, serve as judges at local livestock, cooking and presentation competitions, attend camp and overnight trips and more.
